Account Manager (onsite, hybrid)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Account Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of integrated client work across creative, digital and paid-media channels. Reporting to an Account Director, this individual serves as a primary day-to-day client contact and works closely with internal strategy, creative, project management and media partners to move work efficiently from planning and briefing through execution and measurement.
The Account Manager must be proactive, highly organized and comfortable managing multiple projects and changing priorities. Success in this position requires sound judgment, strong client-service skills, attention to detail and the ability to independently lead projects while knowing when to involve or escalate issues to the Account Director.
This is not an entry-level or primarily administrative position. The Account Manager is expected to take ownership of assigned work, anticipate client and project needs, and contribute to the development of effective marketing solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
Client and Account Management
Serves as a primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients, building trusted and productive client relationships.
Develops a strong understanding of each client’s business, industry, customers, competitors, objectives and marketing priorities.
Manages day-to-day account activity under the strategic leadership of the Account Director.
Leads client meetings and presentations as appropriate, including developing agendas, presenting updates, documenting decisions and ensuring timely follow-up.
Provides clear, timely and proactive communication to clients and internal teams.
Anticipates client needs, identifies potential challenges and brings forward recommended solutions.
Manages client expectations regarding scope, budget, timing, deliverables and results.
Supports the Account Director in developing annual plans, account strategies, organic-growth opportunities and client presentations.
Builds strong relationships with client stakeholders and identifies opportunities to expand Kick’s involvement when appropriate.
Manages multiple concurrent accounts and projects while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
Digital and Paid Media
Collaborates with internal and external media partners to support integrated media planning, campaign development, activation and reporting.
Ensures media recommendations and creative deliverables align with the client’s objectives, audiences, channel requirements and campaign strategy.
Coordinates the development and delivery of paid-media assets, including confirming specifications, deadlines, approvals and trafficking requirements.
Reviews media plans and performance reports and helps translate results into clear, client-friendly insights and recommended actions.
Works with media and analytics partners to confirm campaign tracking and measurement requirements before launch.
Helps clients understand how creative, media, digital experience and measurement work together to produce results.
Maintains familiarity with emerging digital platforms, paid-media trends, privacy considerations and evolving marketing practices.
Reviews website and campaign reporting to identify meaningful trends, performance issues and opportunities for improvement.
Works with analytics, media and digital partners to confirm that website tracking, conversion events and campaign measurement are properly defined and implemented.
Translates website, digital and paid-media data into clear, client-friendly insights and actionable recommendations.
Financial and Administrative Management
Assists in developing statements of work, project estimates, timelines and staffing assumptions.
Partners closely with project management to establish and monitor schedules, assign responsibilities, track progress and keep projects moving efficiently.
Reviews monthly billing and confirms that invoices accurately reflect approved work.
Identifies potential budget overages or scope changes early and communicates them to the Account Director.
Maintains accurate account documentation, including status reports, contact reports, approvals, estimates and change orders.
Produces and distributes weekly status reports and client contact reports within 24 hours of meetings.
Ensures project information, approvals and final deliverables are properly documented and stored.
Participates in account management, project status and financial review meetings.
Team Collaboration
Builds trust with internal partners by taking initiative, following through on commitments and responding promptly and accurately.
Works collaboratively with account leadership, project management, strategy, creative, production, digital and media teams.
Provides clear direction and relevant client context to internal teams while protecting the time and focus needed to produce strong work.
Helps review and proof client-facing communications, presentations and deliverables for accuracy, clarity and quality.
Provides guidance and day-to-day support to Assistant Account Executives or other junior team members when assigned.
Contributes brand, customer, category and competitive insights to the broader integrated team.
Supports photoshoots and other production activities as needed, including coordinating schedules, client products, props, locations, talent and approvals.
Contributes positively to Kick’s culture and is willing to support the team when priorities shift.
Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
3-5 years of account management or client-service experience in an advertising, creative, digital or media agency environment.
Demonstrated experience managing integrated marketing projects across creative and digital channels.
Direct experience supporting paid-media campaigns is required. Working knowledge of the paid-media campaign lifecycle, including planning, creative development, asset delivery, activation, tracking, optimization and reporting.
Demonstrated working knowledge of digital marketing and paid-media channels, including paid search, paid social, programmatic, display, retail media, video, connected TV and other relevant platforms.
Understanding of common paid-media measures such as impressions, reach, frequency, click-through rate, cost per click, cost per acquisition, conversion rate, return on ad spend and other campaign-specific KPIs.
Demonstrated working knowledge of website analytics and performance metrics, including traffic sources, users, sessions, engagement, conversion rates, landing-page performance and user behavior.
Understanding of how to use reporting platforms and dashboards, including Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console and Looker Studio or comparable tools.
Experience serving as a day-to-day client contact and independently leading client and internal meetings.
Experience developing scopes, estimates, timelines, briefs, status reports and client presentations.
Ability to understand marketing performance data and translate it into clear insights for clients and internal teams.
Strong financial management skills, including experience tracking project budgets, hours, estimates, billing and changes in scope.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced agency environment while managing multiple accounts, projects and deadlines.
Proactive and resourceful working style, with the ability to operate independently while keeping the Account Director appropriately informed.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills; ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with client and agency stakeholders at different levels.
Sound judgment and the ability to anticipate issues, evaluate options and recommend solutions.
Ability to listen actively, collaborate effectively and work toward solutions that support both client and agency needs.
Curiosity about clients’ businesses, audiences, categories, emerging media channels and evolving marketing practices.
Flexibility, accountability and a positive, team-oriented approach.
Healthcare, medical-device, wellness, animal-health or regulated-industry experience is preferred but not required.
Experience with brand executions, including packaging, is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a hybrid position, working primarily at the Kick Office in Northeast Minneapolis. Dependent on scheduling needs for this role, this position may work from a remote location two days per week.
